In the morning, I first came to the Inner Mongolia Museum. The exterior of the museum is solemn and magnificent, and its unique architectural style highlights the integration of grassland culture and modern atmosphere. As soon as I entered the museum, it seemed like I had traveled through a time

tunnel and walked into the long history of Inner Mongolia. The museum's exhibition halls are rich and diverse, displaying a vast array of precious artifacts. Here, visitors can see stone tools and pottery from prehistoric times, which bear witness to the lives and labor of ancient humans on this land.

Additionally, there are artifacts from ancient nomadic tribes such as the Xiongnu,Xianbei, and Turks, ranging from exquisite bronze vessels to splendid costumes, each piece telling the story of their rise and fall. Among these, a complete set of Xiongnu gold crown ornaments stands out, showcasing the craftsmanship and unique design that reflect the wisdom and artistic achievements of ancient

nomadic peoples. Through these artifacts, one can deeply appreciate the historical roots and cultural

heritage of Inner Mongolia, a region where multiple ethnic groups have lived together.

Afternoon: Walk back to the Muslim district and feel the Muslim atmosphere Quds Mosque: Listen to the bell of prayer

The first stop of the afternoon was the Great Mosque in Hui District, a century-old building that embodiesthe Muslim culture of Hohhot. It exudes a solemn and mysterious aura under the sunlight.

The blue-gray brick-carved gate is inscribed with verses from the Quran, while the green dome atop the hall contrasts beautifully with the white minaret, showcasing a typical Islamic architectural style that is truly eye-catching. Upon entering the temple, one is greeted by a spacious prayer hall adorned with neatly arranged carpets. Crystal chandeliers hang from the dome, and sunlight filters through the stained glass windows, casting a kaleidoscope of colors on the floor. The imam's recitation echoes solemnly and melodiously throughout the hall.

Even without understanding Arabic, the rhythmic tones evoke a profound sense of the sacred power of religious culture. The Moon Viewing Pavilion within the temple was once a crucial structure for observing new moons and determining Ramadan. Today, visitors can ascend to the top of the pavilion to overlook the neatly arranged residential areas and bustling markets in the Hui district, experiencing the harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.

Wide Lane: Traverse the Muslim Quarter

Leaving the Great Mosque, I turned into the bustling Muslim-style alley ——. The ancient and elegant shops line the cobblestone streets, their signs written in both Chinese and Arabic, exuding a strong ethnic atmosphere. Handmade carpet shops, copperware stores, and spice stalls are everywhere, with artisans diligently hammering copper pots, the tinkling sounds telling tales of centuries-old

traditions. The most appealing sights are the street food stalls. Freshly baked steamed buns, with their crispy crust and a mouthful of lamb filling mixed with onions, emit a fragrant aroma. The golden oil is shiny, and a bite reveals its soft and sweet texture. There's also freshly brewed milk tea, paired with milk skin and stir-fried rice, which is salty and rich. As I walked, I tried some of the snacks. I sat down in an old teahouse, watching the owner skillfully brew tea using a long-mouthed copper pot,and listening to the elderly man next to me chatting in his local dialect. Sunlight filtered through the carved window lattice, casting delicate shadows on the table. At that moment, time seemed to slow down, immersing me in this vibrant neighborhood filled with the sounds of daily life.

Dinner: barbecue on Chalechuan grassland to experience the grassland style

In the evening, we bid farewell to the bustling Hui District and arrived at the Chale

River Grassland. A wild and charming barbecue awaited us on the grassland. The

grass was lush, and wildflowers were in full bloom. In the distance, flocks of sheep

and horses grazed leisurely, creating a tranquil and picturesque scene. On the

barbecue grill, fresh mutton sizzled with the charcoal fire, sprinkled with cumin and

salt, and the aroma filled the air instantly.Everyone gathered around, savoring the crispy and tender roasted mutton, the

crispy and tender roasted lamb chops, and enjoying the chilled mare's milk wine.

They listened to the herders singing melodious long tunes in Mongolian. As the

sun set, the bonfire on the grassland blazed brightly, casting a warm glow on

everyone's faces. Some played the horsehead fiddle, while others danced to the Mongolian dance,

clapping along to the rhythm, feeling the warmth and boldness of the grassland people.

At this moment, the hustle and bustle of the city faded away, leaving only the vastness of nature and the freedom of the soul. A day's journey in Hohhot has come to an end. From the historical richness of the museum to the vibrant Muslim culture of the Hui District, and the bold and warm hospitality of the grasslands, this city is a tapestry of diverse cultures. Every landscape, flavor, and story has deepened my affection for this land.
